As title says. A description on how to get 10 and 12 meter bands on a galaxy pluto/superstar 3900f. A simple mod that can be done in around an hour. This rig also has the UK40 frequency offset so will go to 29.7mhz

  • yes they do. they are all export radios. mine is identical to this one in the video. EPT360011B series mainboard. 6 band AM/FM/USB/LSB radio.

  • @cadillacdude1975 ok. my apologies then! It's just all the US rigs I've seen are AM/SSB on the mid band. Yes the mod can be done to yours, you need a chip that shifts the frequency up 179.125 khz from the frequency shown. So on hi band 27.635 will become 27.781 (ch19)

  • i see this Pluto is one of the ones that ha the conversion switch for the UK channels. will this mod work on the US radios?

  • No because the US radios don't have FM

  • most modern 80ch or european standard rigs can be opened up. my tti 550 does 25.615-30.105mhz plus the zeros and black holes. cobra 29 just needs a diode removed if my memory serves me correct. the best one is the maycom em27,modded, this will cover 25.615-30.105 with repeater shift.... perfect for 10m fm work

  • nice mod its works fine

  • Hi, i have a Sommerkamp TS790DX which shares the same board as your radio and i might just try this as it gives a good frequency coverage..

    Good video..

  • I just modded my cobra 29uk nightwatch from 80 channels to triple lo- 6 times high 25.615 TO 30.105 am/fm.

No ssb on this radio but used the tone control as the band switch, so without any frequency counter display it all looks legal when out and about in my car..

being a ham i wanted to use 28-29.700 mhz band..

Had some issues with broadbanding but now sorted out

  • good mod, the VCO needs to be "wide banded to cover all bands, i think a "vco block" used to be avalible for the 148 etc,

    Dan

  • Well done..
