"Wha-what?" she stuttered. Yeah, singing was her job but she hadn't sung for months. "Sing you what?"
"You don't have to." He told her sensing her hesitation.
"No I will." She sounded more sure of herself. "What do you want me to sing?"
"My favorite part of shadow." He said without hesitation, giving all his attention to her.
"Not even time could erase; you're my weakness babe, but you give me strength. I need you, I need you like the blood in my veins." She sung perfectly for him.
Her voice gave his shivers; it wasn't anything new her voice seemed to always have that effect on him. He sucked in air and held his breath.
"Something wrong?" her voice broke through his thoughts; yet again. He felt the bed shift and her sit up.
"I love it when you sing, you know that right?" he smiled in the darkness. Scooting slightly closer to her.
"I remember you used to always make me sing for you." She laughed suddenly feeling his presence. She inhaled his familiar scent and let out a soft sigh.
"Still not tired?" he was now lying next to her, her heart was racing from such close contact with him. She longed to feel his arms wrapped around her body again. "Come here." He pulled her into a warm embrace; he guided her head so I rested on his chest and stoked her hair softly. "This always helped you fall asleep." He was right and within a few minutes she was out cold. Once she was asleep Garbo debated did he wake her up or just stay with her? He wanted to stay with her but he didn't know if it was the right thing for her at the moment. He let his drooping eyes decide for him as he rested his head on top of hers. In a few minutes he too fell asleep with the girl he was secretly still in love with.
The next morning he slipped out of bed before she woke up, and crept downstairs. Chelsea and Joe were already at the kitchen table waiting for him.
"Where did you go last night?" Chelsea inquired passing Garbo a box of cereal and the milk.
"I went to get changed and Riley was having a bad dream so I sat down with her and well yeah. I just fell asleep." He replied shoveling the cereal in his mouth causing Riley who just came downstairs to make a face.
"You look like an animal." She chuckled stealing the cereal from him and pouring herself a bowl.
"I am an animal...in bed." He wiggled his eyebrows and smirked.
Riley nearly choked on her cereal, her sides shook with laughter. "You keep telling yourself that tiger."
Joe smiled, he loved watching Riley's happiness and teasing personality come back to life. "So today, Chelsea and I have plans so Garbo you're in charge."
"WHAT?" riley pouted. "Why is HE in charge?"
"Cuz he's oldest and we have to leave." Joe grabbed Chelsea and forced her out the door before Riley could get a hold of him. "By the way!" he yelled from outside. "The house needs to be cleaned!"
Once they were alone she shook her finger menacingly at Garbo. "Just know you arent the boss."
"Oh, but I am!" he laughed standing up, and putting his dishes in the sink. "Shall we begin our super cool fun cleaning?"
"No." Riley replied flatly.
"Okay! Let's go!" he dragged her off the stool and put the radio on.
...
They worked in silence Garbo was cleaning the kitchen and Riley was cleaning out the closet.
"Garbs?" she called out giving him goose bumps she hadn't called him Garbs for months. "S.O.S." she giggled.
"You are so queer." He squeezed inside the closet with her. "What do you need?"
"That big box waaaay on the top." She motioned to the old flimsy cardboard box occupying the top shelf.
"Of course its that one." He sighed pulling it down; not knowing its weight it knocked him down talking Riley with him. she landed onto of him; not moving when he tried to get up.
"Ok Greg, not kissing right now would be just as lame as in The Goonies when the dude didn't kiss the chick even though she fell on top of him." Riley locked her lips with Garbo's for a second before letting the older boy go back to his cleaning. "Alright, we are now sufficiently cooler then Josh Brolin and Kerri Greene."
"I dunno...Josh Brolin kind of redeemed himself in No Country For Old Men..." Garbo started, but Riley cut him off.
"We're not talking about that." She grinned. "We're talking about kissing and Goonies, and for now, we're cooler. Don't contradict me. In my world, I'm right."
"You know you liked that kiss." He teased, advancing towards her again. "You know you can't resist the Garbmeister."
"If you keep referring to yourself as 'Garbmeister' I'm sure I could." She chuckled allowing him to move closer and closer, his body pressed against hers.
She felt his soft familiar lips brush against hers again. His hands slid up and down her lower back softly.
