Strapped atop a modified 747, space shuttle Discovery left Edwards Air Force Base, California Sunday, Sept. 20 to begin its return trip to NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Discoverys ferry flight will make multiple stops on its 2,500-mile cross-country journey thats expected to take two days. Discovery and its seven astronauts landed at Edwards on Sept. 11, ending its successful STS-128 mission to the International Space Station.
