just picked up the bass not too long ago after years of guitar. im not doing too bad. but heres my question, how do you do the muted slap fast enough? like im slapping my thumb against it as fast as i can to get a quick sound but it doesnt seem like a good way to be doing it. theres gotta be a better motion like a double slap maybe?

@FooFightersKid try popping a highter muted string(D or G), and slapping a lower string(E or A) as well, try it in successive eight notes, move up to sixteenths, and then try it in different rythems. Itll work out once you get it down good.

@FooFightersKid mate my bit of advice that ive found helped me a lot when starting slap is to sit there with your left hand muting the strings and literally slowly slap and pop over and over again. start really slowly then speed up. then try putting two slaps for every pop. again start slow. once uve practiced that a lot try doing each pattern with ocaves instead of muting. i found that really helped me a lot to slap - especially if you want to do flea-like stuff! :)
