September 1st, 2010 we became DEBT-FREE! On September 17th we made our debt-free call and screamed. This is our call on the Dave Ramsey Show live. We paid off $56,000 in 2 1/2 years. We now are teaching Financial Peace University at our church.

If you work the principles taught in Financial Peace your life will never be the same! Trust me, we know. Glory to God!

  • @MrConservative608 Aha at the risk of turning this video into a forum, I do need to learn how to read more thoroughly! Sounds like you've been thru the wringer like us; our story involves a failed business due to bad management & an abyssmal construction market, huge KGB debt, total debt at one point TRIPLE our yearly income. Plus a growing family. You rock for overcoming so much; I fully believe that DRIVE & accepting personal responsibility will get us, and you, where we want to go! God Bless!

  • @grouchptato (Continued) Well, my dad heard Dave Ramsey on the radio a few years ago and gave me his book the "Total Money Makeover" close to 2 years ago and I have not once received an overdraft on my checking account since and have a $200 emergency fund. I know it should be bigger but I have some behaviors to learn to control. Once I start my career, watch out because I know how to make a budget, build an emergency fund & save.

  • @grouchptato (Continued) Throughout all of this I never got a credit card because I just was too dumb to understand why I would want one, though now I realize because of Dave that I dodged some bullets by the grace of God by not having credit cards or student loans. Even though I went back onto SSDI, I had this problem of over-drafting my checking account with my debit card. You feel 2" high when you are in your 30s and your dad is paying your overdraft fees. (To Be Cont.)

  • @grouchptato If you got the impression I am a millionaire, I didn't mean to give that impression. I am sort of a welfare to work case. I graduated high school in '96. Because I have 2 disabilities, I was on SSDI & lived in Section 8 housing. Then in 2004, I received $100k inheritance from my grandpa. I lived & went to college off of it until 2009 when I graduated and it ran out. I then went back on SSDI & in public housing & am still waiting for my career job. (To Be Cont.)

  • @MrConservative608 I like the idea of Millionaire Mondays! We are deeply in the red now and not making a stellar income but I'm so inspired by Dave's show & by people like you who have done what it takes to really win. We have started to turn things around! Along the same lines, I'd like to hear more from ppl who have been debt-free 10+ years, Dave does that occasionally; how they live, what life is like, etc. We are going to BE people like you someday because of the knowledge we've been given.

  • @lestersimmons82 Lets start "Millionaire Mondays" on the Dave Ramsey show. How about it? A day when Dave Ramsey's students (of which I am one) call in with a net worth of $1,000,000.00 or more. Let's up the ante from just being Debt Free.

  • @alexwclark I have an idea. In addition to Debt Free Fridays on Dave Ramsey's show, lets start Millionaire Mondays where people call in having a net worth of $1,000,000.00!!!

  • Way to go you two! I just joined the club! Congrats!

  • I have paid off $ 2,500 on a $18,000/yr income. in two months, I'M DEBT FREE! I lived like no one else, I lived like a bum on only $500 in nine weeks.

  • I remember hearing this one the podcast. Nice one! Well done!!
