@DrBones666 and what type of cooking oil does Indonesian use, motor oil?
-
@DrBones666 Secondly, prior to colonisation, Indonesia and Malaysia was part of a larger malay archipelago so it is rather pointless to compare Indonesian and Malaysian cooking. Some dishes are in fact, the same such as rendang. Of course there are differences and unique tastes that developed throughout history but in general if people of either region/country have each other's food it is considered familiar.

@DrBones666 No, roti canai is NOT from India. In Singapore, roti canai is known as roti prata but mean the same thing. Both countries will know what it is if you mention it.
However, roti prata/canai does have a common ancestor, paratha which is from India. When migrants headed down south to southeast asia, over time, food is localised and evolves as it is isolated from the motherland. So no, roti canai in the form shown above is not from India but Malaysia and Singapore.

Roti Cani comes from India, not Malaysia. As someone who lived in asia for over 16 years I can tell you that Indonesian cooking beats Malaysian any day. It's the spices and the fact that they don't drown the food in palm oil.

i said that this must be interesting.

This is awesome! My local Thai's restaurant has one dish that you eat roti canai with and it is to die for! I've been trying to make this bread for so long but I couldn't find the recipe for it. I think I might attempt to try making this although the technique definitely is difficult! If you haven't tried this bread, you must!
go MALAYSIA!!!! do promote our malaysian dish to the world..keep it up!! MALAYSIA BOLEH!!
