  • The game looks balls hard but the game visually looks amazing for the 8-bit era, great review!

  • @NostalgicDan1 Thanks Dan, and yes, it IS.

  • This game actually looks pretty cool. When watching this, I get the impression that this game is pretty much what the NES experience was back then. It makes me think of renting tons of games from video stores on a whim or just because of the box art or pictures on the back. Occasionally you'd get a good one or something that's actually playable, and the other times you'd end up with something really bad like Deadly Towers or Gotcha.

  • @beigemore Wow, I hadn't thought about Gotcha for years until you just brought it up. What a game that was...lol

  • Hey, you know what? Play Astynax. Then you'll forget about the Castle of Dragon.

Gorgeous graphics, really. Funny, I thought it hold up very nicely to TG-16 and even early Genesis games. Incidentally, one of the blurbs on the Astynax box that sold me on it back in the day was about how 16-bit like the game was. And how large the character sprites were. The music is also high quality. I MUST play this ASAP, since beating Where's Waldo 477 times can get a bit boring.

  • @cuttock I've got Astyanax, and never was really able to get into it. It's OK...may have to give it another shot.

  • Whoa dude, I remember reading about this game in a Nintendo Power magazine back in the day. SHEESH I'm old! I never played this one though...

  • $30 Hmmmmm I don't know

  • The music reminds me of the type that was used in the nes Batman vidoe game, the one based off the 1989 film.

  • It's like Zelda II & Castlevania were thrown in a blender. The Knight's knockback animation makes me immediately think of Link and the gorgeous stages make me think of Castlevania games for some reason.

I never tackled this title but it looks amazing.

    Another excellent review!

  • Nice shirt! Oh yea, awesome review to bro. :D

  • I can't say I've played this game, but it looks very interesting. Great review bro.

  • Hey, I really like your Reviews. They are alwas well done, informative and get to the point! Further you always choose uncommon games, thats great!

Keep on the good work and greets from Germany!

  • Wow, never heard of either game but you have convinced me completely. I will keep an eye out for this gem!

  • I also saw this in Nintendo Power and always thought it looked awesome. Thanks for reviewing this overlooked gem.

  • @snowcon3 I had mixed feelings about Astyanax for a while. I loved the graphics but I always thought it was a Lengedary Axe rip and would just play that instead because it rules. Also that damn swamp level seemed impossible. After looking into the arcade game recently I discovered that the arcade game was designed by the same guy (Tokuhiro Takemori) which is actually pretty cool. Long story short, I gave this game a chance last week, got through that stupid level and beat the game...worth a look
