I wish we could sing this in church. Honestly, it offers a more potent dose of what the New Testament calls "pure religion and undefiled" than most of the insipid and infantile worship songs we're sentenced to sing. Mr. Rundgren describes himself as an agnostic, but his artistic work (viz. this song and esp. "Love Is the Answer") touch me profoundly as a Christian believer. I don't know how he would react to this sentiment, but here it is: God bless you, Todd Rundgren.

@SKIPTALK9 Yes, that is the original. Todd used the guitar in 1973/1974 and retired it because it was too fragile to take on the road, the neck was rotting because Clapton sanded the paint off the back of the neck. He brought it back out in 1980 with a new headstock, bridge and tailpiece, in the summer of 81' the paint was restored and sealed by Jane Millett. He used it for years after that and retired it in the mid 90's, Then sold it in 1999. I heard it was unplayable at that point.

Just spent a fortune going making the trip from Sydney to Amsterdam to see AWATs in Feb, so no more holidays for a while I am afraid !

@theBadlovesI get chills just thinking about it! A TwofeR! AWATS was a trip in itsself. I say you come up for down under and join us in September! Last year we had folks come from Scotland, Japan, London...everywhere! It was a wonderful weekend in Akron.

I believe this was from a radio broadcast. I had it on cassette until I loaned it to my future brother-in-law.....long story. This is the only live version I've ever heard with the "yea, yea, yea" at 4:31. Thanx for posting.

This is from a king biscuit radio LP. It's the same show as the royal oak video but it has a couple of extra songs, this one and last of the new wave riders. The show was mixed by Todd. Funny thing though is the audio is much better than the royal oak video

They only played this on the spring tour of April/May 1981. As far as I know this and the 4/15 Rochester NY show is the only recorded Utopia versions of this song!
