Don was kind enough to give me a lesson a few years ago. I had mentioned to him that I was interested in learning some jazz theory, and that was all it took. He called me a few weeks later and said "Grab a guitar and get over here!". So, I did. I proceeded to make a fool out of myself, being a complete nube to jazz progressions and theory. But Don was totally patient, and kind throughout. A really good guy and a very impressive resume. He'll let you know about that!

The tuners on this 49 350, (of which my buddy david has the same blonde year) look to be metal. I think the original tuners were Kluson nolines with that pearl like material for the tuner buttons. I've got the 1951 blonde 350. Some axe. I always wonder if it's really ok to put 13's on an older archtop or not. I have never used a pick in my 30 years of playing. I wish I did, but probably not on the 350.

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Don under the unfortunate circumstances of attending Leroy Cooper's funeral. Don's a wonderful man, a class act and a great guitar player. He and Miss Jackie Jones did a fitting farewell rendition of "Georgia..." in memory of Leroy. I will never forget it.
