Sarah Palin

SARAH PALIN: As mayor, I shook up the good ol' boy system—had to kinda take that on. I reminded people that government is not always the answer, in fact, too often government is the problem. So here's what we did: we got back to the basics and I put the local government there back on the side of the people.
I eliminated taxes on property; on personal property. I eliminated taxes on those small business inventories; this was hurting small business. We took that tax away. Property taxes were way too high. So every year I cut rates for six years in a row and those reforms worked and our communities soared. We started takin' off.
So then, as governor, I brought that same agenda of positive change to the state level. We took on the old politics as usual in Juneau and we broke the monopoly that had controlled our state; that was the lobbyists and the special interests associated with big oil companies. We came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of closed doors and self-dealing and today that ethics reform is the law of the state. We cleaned it up!
I thought it was important also, as mayor and governor, to try to lead by example. So what I did, as mayor, I took a voluntary pay cut, which didn't really thrill my husband and then, as governor, I cut the personal chef position from the budget, which didn't thrill my kids and then I put the state's government checkbook on-line for all to see, which didn't thrill a lot of the bureaucrats and, as you may have heard, the luxury jet that came with the office: I put it on eBay.
What I had done was promise to control spending when I came into office so I didn't want to just be walking the walk. We didn't want to just talk about it. We wanted to actually do it by request, if possible, and by veto, if necessary is how I would control spending and today our state budget is under control and we do have a surplus and I put the veto pen to nearly half a billion dollars in reckless spending.

This speech was obviously written by somebody else to use as a buffer for deflecting blame from the incendiary words & symbols Palin uses. When her speeches/websites use powerful phrasing that invokes the image of killing ("aim & reload," "crosshairs," take-out [name of senator]"), she is using her public power to incite violence: You can't step back later & say "Well, I didn't tell anybody to shoot Gifford." If Palin doesn't know the power of metaphors & words, then she's a danger to America.

@laurarenea
Oh, and bash the President.
She's a train wreck I actually felt sorry for her for a minute. But then I remembered she's an evil bitch. She needs to hire a damn speechwriter because she is trying to bullshit her way through a 40-minute speech with stories about her husband's fishing business like anyone cares. And you can just hear the crowd thinking "Damn this bitch is retarded, I paid actual money to see this?" It's painful to watch. Also hilarious.

Wow, when this bitch first came on the scene she had so much confidence. So smug and sure of herself. The speeches were stupid, but at least she delivered them well, and she obviously got off on the adulation she received from the crowd. You could see it every time she finished a sentence she paused with that sneer on her face to wait for applause. Now that she got her ass kicked in the election her confidence is gone and her speeches are just awful. All she does is talk about herself. Awesome.

oh let's see people, didn't S.P. write herself notes on the back of her hand during an interview with katie curric? it's okay for her to abandon her post as governor of alaska in the middle of her term? but yet she is "no quitter"!!! and this is what you want to run the country? i can see it now...as soon as she doesn't get her way and gets frustrated, she'll just resign as president? apparently you people are not a very good judge of character!!!

I hope this Woman gets eleceted Gov.s and Military persons ussually make good Prez..s such as Andrew Jackson he paid off everything and was the only Prez. to leave office with the USA debt free. He was a Democrat but Democrats now adays aren' the working class. Republicans are the hard working class that grow up to have good paying jobs and have worked hard all their lif to achieve this. Democrats (now) are the supposedly working class.
