Tenori-On vs. Monome

It seems people can't resist comparing the tenori-on and the monome. This is understandable as they're both boxes of LEDs and buttons.

If you're wondering what the differences are, there are people on line who can talk endlessly about the what makes each of them unique.

However, why don't we compile some of the clips from youtube to see what kind of music these devices are capable of?

@JSpraya Tenori-on reallyt aint stuck in japan and it's pretty readily availiable to anyone, Trouble is it seems to attract alot of noob userss. However i think this clip was deliberatelly biased in the quality of performances it showed featuring the tenori-on

@VJFranzK If you look up the musician "Little Boots" you'll find some good usage of the Tenori. She's very good with it.

@Llitsor I must AGREE with this - it's mainly in LOOKS that they are similar.

In function they are different - it's not fair to compare the EXternal sampled sounds of Monome software with the INternal sounds of Tenori - it can be a great controller also.

The editor of this video was biased toward the Monome I suspect, there are plenty of better Tenori examples out there than these.

I'd like to have BOTH of them, honestly!

obviously the outher favores the moonome. no hard feelings with that. but the sound-examples are just not fair. people like little boots use the tenori in a way that give you the blast.

Its not a great comparison to be honest. They are similar only in appearance alone. Otherwise they really could not be any more different!

Im guessing Tenori-on is better for beginers who want to get into this kind of thing. Im not sure though, can someone with experience tell me which is a better one to start with?
