This is a music box that I created using the PBM Array featured in Kimundi2's video on piston's uses in redstone circuitry. It's completely programmable, meaning that you can stick whatever rhythms into it and change any of the pitches to make whatever song you'd like. I'm still working on improving tempo issues, but I thought that it was still a neat little way to show what pistons are capable of.

  • Wow, that's a great use of pistons! Could you replace the central set of four pistons (which control tempo, I believe) with a 5-clock or something similar? I imagine you are basically hitting the "max speed" of piston movement with that though...

  • @chemdork123 I'm sure that it would work, since all you really need is 2 alternating outputs to move the outer ring, but I don't think that it would be faster than the piston engine, since there's only the delay of 4 repeaters for a full cycle, which I believe is the equivalent of 4 torches, as opposed to 5 torches for the 5-clock.

  • coldplay??

  • @munchluxe63 is a triky thing but it works is kinda hard to get it right

basicaly u need a 4 repeater clock from wich u take just 2 oposite phases and split them to make 4 links that blink in 2 phases then conect the links on the same phase to pistons in oposite corners

the test i made was for vertical wals 4 blocks high and got it runing twice as fast as in this video.

  • whats with the beds?

  • now make a massive box with a cool disign on it and an open window and u got a music box

  • 0:44 i wasnt looking then i was like wtf

  • hm... I was thinking about replicating this and playing two at once for a faster speed, one activated 2 ticks after the other (or however many is half the clock speed), then using relays and a clock to switch between music boxes to make the songs longer, and maybe using circuits to shorten the pulses from two music boxes if they are too long and conflict with each other at a higher speed.

  • VERY impressive

  • would it be plausible to have a sort of layered scheme to that, so it can play faster, with more range, yet with the same length as this? i would definitely attempt something like that if i thought it would work.
