  • She sings Aida IN CHICAGO THIS WEEK !

  • QUE LINDA VOZ!!!!

  • Truth is audiences today aren't used to hearing voices like this. Hers is one that belongs to the past. A soprano innately heavy, dark, and ample, but carried on the breath (never screamed). Her technique is accurate. Indeed, she covers, she is from a school we rarely hear of anymore: the one balancing voice type with age and repertoire. This rep requires not only a voice like hers, but also the long breath span, support and resonance she displays. And she's at the ideal age for it. BRAVA!

  • ugh, too slow 1:13-2:01. After that it just starts to drag further. She doesn't seem introspective, it sounds laborious. Where's the drama, the passion, the pulse?

Her high notes do seem to long, (could be a consequence of the catatonic conducting) and yes the voice is very muddled. Simple, simple changes that could make this aria go from dull to sparkling. I guess she seems to be milking it too much. A little too lyric, should be spinto. LIke she's Mimi instead of a Verdi heroine.

  • @SangpourPlaisir

Of course she is one of the great voices of our generation, until this I though she was one of the greatest voices of the 21st century - she is not. This performance comes to conclude in my head the flaws that I had noticed in her Vespri Elena

  • @LohengrinT Omg she is one of the great voices of our generation. Granted, she does not sound her best here. I not only had the opportunity to see her in the title role of Suor Angelica @ LA opera but I also had the opportunity to meet her. I cried my eyes out when she sang "Senza Mamma" and she floated that High A like Caballe. It was so emotional!

  • @LohengrinT Just think.. this is the voice people are going ape over... as if large voiced meant talented.. If so.. Nina Stemme, would be elevated to the level of a Goddess.. Even Stemme, has way better vowels than this woman. and a better sound if fluttery. Is it just me, or were singers, 50--60 yrs ago better? I think so.

  • @leonardovittori1

horrible vowels and blurred consonants... She gets so bored in the recitativi like she doesnt care How Sutherland would muffle everything till she got to the coloratura, this one muffles everything till she gets to the blast high note. Ofc blasting high notes is smth (Nilsson built an entire legend around that) but it certainly is not music ;)

Im very disappointed with her - this is actually dreadful

  • @LohengrinT The biggest problem with this voice is HORRIBLE vowels, they are so distorted.. She holds onto high notes too long.. This is an incisive aria.. Its basically a recit for much of it.. and as so much sound like it would be spoken. I am not fond of this woman's voice as evidenced from this aria..

  • It is amazing... I was considering Sondra's voice a candidate for the great ones for years now - after this I finally got my decision, definitely a second class Voice.

  • @LohengrinT You are right, the singing here is too segmented. Unfortunately, she doesn't approach the aria as a unified whole.

  • @me148

The problem that appears here is something that has not appeared in previous performances of hers - her consonants are becoming blurred and that is beginning to create the "funny effect" of the blurred diction. In the theater such a problem might be overlooked because of the immense Volume her voice has (blasting your ears etc) but who cares for volume - no real opera fan ever did ;)

  • @LohengrinT I can't see anything wrong with this performance - she is simply wonderful, and is deservedly being recognised as a truly great dramatic soprano

  • @LohengrinT I was at this performance. Sondra's voice is one which MUST be heard LIVE to appreciate its incredible projection and dynamics. Over youtube she sounds very uninteresting. Trust me. It was breathtaking live.

  • Something is terribly wrong with this but I cant quite put my finger on what it is... she sounds too nasal? something happened to her sinuses? her consonants are beginning to disappear? I only hear her Ss

Nice blasts of the high notes though

  • Very good soprano!!!!!, wow!!! and very pretty!!!!. I think now is the time to hire her, before she gets into "galactic cashes"...ha,ha,ha!!!I am sure she will get to the top of the charts.BRAVAAAA!!!!!

  • Favorite opera singer! I just heard Don Carlo at the Met with Poplavskaya - her voice is so tiny compared to Radvanovsky - really wished it was her instead!

  • Very impressive.

    Thank you.

  • Köszönöm szépenS.Radvanovsky Aidá-ját! Gyönyörű!!!!

  • Merci !!! Sondra Radvanovsky est tellement rare et précieuse ... A mon sens la plus grande actuellement ...

  • ********* j'aime
