Nanaimo, BC - Dinghy Dock Pub

When visiting Nanaimo, you have to check out the Dinghy Dock Pub on Protection Island. British Columbia Field Reporter Chris Wheeler takes a five-minute ferry ride to Canada's only floating pub and samples the seafood, talks to "Molly" the parrot and jives to a live band. What a place to enjoy an evening brew and watch the sunset... just watch out for pirates!

I will be making a trip over in mid October, hope the wether is nice then.

I love this little Island and started going there when I was a kid in the mid 1980's as one of my uncles owned a cabbin there. In total I have to say I have only been to Protection about 4 or 5 times in the last 20 years...but enjoyed it every time. My uncle ended up selling his cabbin about 2 or 3 years ago, so no more weekends there unfortunately (:
