I totally agree with you... I know a couple with 25 year old age difference.. they are happy and very much in love! good for them! the girl is 18... if they don't care why should anyone else get to judge them?

i think you have to make a difference between romance and relationship. A relationship will be much harder than just a "small romance" even not private problems, but problems with the society. A small difference of age won't be a problem, but i think more than five years difference could be a problem after a while - after the phase of falling in love.

The big age difference isn't a new trend, infact it was the norm in the long ago past. It was very common for 15-16 year old girls to marry 30 year old men up until the 19th century.

Maturity is key, not age. If you two can compliment eachother's personalities, have a blast. I say this because I have been there. Sadly, he couldn't handle the age difference. Sometimes it isn't so easy.

I could ramble on for days when it comes to this topic. However, in a nutshell, age does not matter in the slightest if the two people in the relationship truly care. If there's a decade gap and the law says no, I wouldn't give two shits because i'm expreincing something amazing with someone worth getting caught for.

Age categories below.

Under 10: Too young for anything serious, should not "date" anyone over about 12.

10-12: Pubescent Stage

13-15: Adolescent Stage I

16-17: Adolescent Stage II

18-20: Young Adult Stage I

21-24: Young Adult Stage II

25+: Adulthood

The range increases with each stage to a point.

The way I see it, although age can impact how a relationship functions, if you love each other the age difference means nothing. I know a girl who's 20 is with a man over 50. I'd say that's a King Kong sized age difference. But it's fine. Before someone hits 30, there's different age categories I'll explain in my next comment.

I think it's becoming a new trend, when younger girls, like 18-21 yr olds, are going for guys that are much older, like 10+ yrs older, I see it happening a lot, younger guys we can't compete, they have better looks and more confidence, those guys in 30's and 40's...lucky bastards

It's just jealosy, I admit it, I'm jealous of this skinny beautiful model type girl who is dating this 45 yr old guy...but so what? I'm 19, and I like her, of course I'm gonna be jealous, but she fell in love with him, he is funny, he has money, he has an awesome car...who is to judge?? There's is this hot 24yr old girl who likes me, and she is hot!, so I can't complain
