  • "It's The Same Old South" by Count Basie's big band 1940 is a protest song.

  • great post, never heard it! wingy mannone put out a record in '41 called "stop the war (the cats are killing themselves)" the seriousness or intent of the song i have never been able to fully determine, but a great song/lyrics nontheless.
