The award for the worst bit of directing I have ever seen goes to..... Who the hell makes someone walk backwards, upstage, up a staircase to the climax of a song????? She's a legend....

Someone commented on the use of vibrato. There's is a balance to be struck, there. Lupone meets that balance to perfection. Dinah Shore, for instance, did not.

I first became attentive to Patti Lupone and her charisma when she did a rendition of this song with a lot of character (not in costume) that the camera caught on a channel thirteen nyc membership drive. I think she did a spiel for people to call in to become a member.I wonder if that is lost video. do they archive?

That was from her one woman show she did a while back. That performance for PBS was taped in Palm Springs and is available. I will post for you soon if you like...
