My dad said that Racine used to be called the Bell City bcuz people around the country would come to Racine bcuz of all the jobs. Now we aint got shit. All we got now is Mcdonalds!!! what a joke.
Do you remember the ski jump that was on the west side of washington avenue close to lees deli? Remember kiddyland behind now rogans shoes. The site is now a city park. All that remands is the original fence in the front. Both of these are in this video. Wish we had more to see. It was so great back then, so clean and fresh. How did we end up here? How time flys. How memories fade. Wish it was better. Great video, nice to see some good times in Racine. Thanks
nice video.... took bad this fine city has been taken over by gangs and whores. this town is a hole in the wall now. nice to see what it used to be.... white and clean
I was 4 years old and living in Racine in 1951. That could be me in a scene or two. The 4th of July parades were really something back then! The Kilties used to practice on what was then an open field off 21st, a couple of blocks west of West Blvd.
Amazing! This is either a very good home movie or a marketing film from that era. Would like to know how they pulled of the tracking shots during the parade.
