@scott30771 R.E.M. did make a few TV appearances for Murmur. Rolling Stone mentioned it as their favorite album of 1983 I think. That got some attention for R.E.M., but they stayed underground mostly until Document.

I wonder if they had any idea then just how huge they would become.

Nice to see Bill. Most of the time he is shoved way int he back of the stage and you can't even see him.

yay! that's at my college! great show!

It's funny that I was 7 at this time and already had this album. REM wasn't anything but a southern college underground band, but everyone knew them in Raleigh. It's just strange to think about how young I was, but REM was locally mainstream.

this is THE BEST! I saw them 8 times in 1985, but not this one.... daytime holy shit I may have been sober.... and Mike Mills is super crisp and on point!!!! god I love these guys

Extraneus3771 Well peter buck is strongly influenced by the byrds, just listen to their guitars:a beautiful arpeggio/strumming combination...i think peter took some of that and perverted it in a good way,but obviously rem and the byrds are very different bands

Great footage. Thanks for sharing.
