this is very obviously to me ,more than lethal. it makes me wonder what exactly makes those plasma globes you can buy touchable. without even feeling pain.
ohbtw have you tried sparking through salt? to make diferent color sparks. i cant make it work.
-
why don't you try putting a small iodine crystal in one of your plasma gas discharge tubes. you'll thank me later if you do it right.
-
did you run 2 ignition coils or just one?
it seems like a little over double the output with 2.

im not sure its the FET's making it smooth.
i thought it was because the flyback has more ferrite than the ignition coil.
and that is smoothing the pulses.
only reason i say this-is every flyback i have seen makes the same sort of arc as yours.
try an ignition coil-and see if im wrong.
worth a try
i sent you PM.

I think the reason my arcs are smooth is that run it at quite high duty cycles and use mosfets also in my later videos my flyback drivers use a resonant caps, you really should start using mosfets they are great for these types of aplication, try to find mosfets with a very low rds(on). The bipolar transistor is desinged in current apications while mosfets have high switching speeds and are usefull for voltage switching. No havent tried ignition coils.
good luck
where about do you live?

oh yeah and its npn

thanx for your comment.
the kit is cheap and the circuit board is well made,so its easier than making my own.
can change the fixed value components to pots and get good control over it.
it can go so low as to be used as electric fence.
i watched your flybacks-your arc is very different to the type i get.
yours is smooth and continuous, where as mine is branching more like lightning.
have you tried ignition coils?
get some HV diodes and try the water spark on your setup.
its loud =]
at 2:38,,, you try to run steam through that?

i havent tried that-generally speaking the blue spark doesnt have the same sort of burning power as a white spark,so it never occured to me to run steam thru it.
