Chapter 36-




Joe-



"Did he say Adoo? What the heck does that mean?" I asked Kevin as the door shut behind Nick. Man that kid's fast.
"Its Adieu. And it means goodbye." He rolled his eyes.
"Oh, right. I knew that." I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.
Kevin walked into the den and flopped onto the couch.
After the girls left this afternoon, we had moved most of the furniture into the house. We finished the den, the kitchen, and the living room. We still hadn't finished upstairs, but I think all of our beds were finally up there, except Nick's. Ha.
I followed him and started pacing in front of the TV. I was so absorbed in my own thoughts that I didn't hear Kevin groan in frustration. He jumped up off the couch and came to stand in front of me, blocking my pacing path.
"What?" I asked, annoyed.
"Dude, I'm trying to watch TV. What's your problem?" He glared at me.
My shoulders slumped forward and I turned and sank onto the couch.
"Nothing." I mumbled unconvincingly. I'd probably never make it as an actor.
"Yeah, doesn't look like nothing to me bro." He came and sat next to me.
I sighed and rested my chin in my hand.
"Its Chris. I miss her." I finally mumbled. Kevin surprised me by laughing. He kept laughing til I turned and glared at him. Then he quickly supressed his laughter and gave me an apologetic smile.
"Sorry. But, you just saw her this afternoon." He smiled, and I frowned.
"I know, but I still miss her." I stared at the wall.
"Then go see her. I mean, she does live next door." His smile widened.
I stared at him for a minute, a slow smile spreading across my face.
"You're right! I'm going to go see her right now, and see if she wants to come over here." I jumped up and headed for the door. Kevin chuckled and called out to me as the door closed.
"You're welcome!"
I grinned as I jogged next door to Chris's house. I felt butterflies in my stomach as I walked up to her front door. I wonder if Nick was nervous when he came over. He probably was.
I lifted my hand and knocked on the door.
I sure hope she says yes....

Boy do I wish I could be a fly on the wall in that room.
Amy's never felt this strongly about a boy before, so, I'd love to be in there.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a knock on the door.
Who in the world could that be? I wasn't expecting anyone....
I quickly ran downstairs, yelling "I got it!". I opened the door, curious to see who would be on the other side.
Who I saw on the other side made my heart beat faster, and I'm not sure, but I think I stopped breathing there for a minute.
It was Joe.
Once I remembered to breath again, I smiled.
"Hey Joe."
"Hi Chris, uh, I was just wondering, since Nick's over here if, uh..." He paused.
"Yeah?" I gave him an encouraging smile. He grinned, looking braver.
"I was just wondering if maybe you might want to come over and watch a movie, with me?" He asked, talking so fast he jumbled the words together. But, I understood him.
I grinned so big, my cheeks actually hurt.
"I'd love too. Let me get my shoes, and tell my parents where I'm going. Come on in." I said excitedly, opening the door wide. He came in and grinned.
"Awesome. I'll just wait here." He leaned up against the wall, casually crossing his arms.
I hurried down the hall towards the den, trying to look like I wasn't in a hurry, I probably wasn't doing a very good job. My mom and dad were on the couch, watching the news.
"Where's the fire sweetie?" See, told you I wasn't doing a very good job.
"There's no fire, mom. I was just wondering if I could go next door to Joe's to watch a movie."
Oh please say yes, please, please!
"Sure honey, its fine with me. Robert?" Mom looked over at Dad.
"Are his parents home?" He asked, frowning slightly.
"Yes daddy. So, can I go?" Please, please, please!
"Alright, you can. Just be back by eleven." He smiled, making his eyes crinkle at the corners.
"Thanks daddy." I went over to him, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Have fun Chrissy." My mom called as I was walking out. I stopped and frowned at her.
"Mom! Don't call me that. Joe might hear you." I said, nervously glancing down the hallway.
"Oops, sorry sweetie." She said, grinning at me.
Yeah, I'll bet you're sorry....
I quickly went to the kitchen to get my shoes before my mom could embarass me further. I grabbed them and walked down the hallway back to Joe.
There he was, still waiting for me. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach when he looked up and smiled at me.
"They say it was okay?" He looked very hopeful. I smiled.
"Yes. They said okay." He smiled and we walked outside, I couldn't stop smiling.
Boy, this night couldn't get any better....
