@chuska8383 "The most important thing she brings to the table, in my opinion, is the observation that I put in the description: involuntary altruism isn't altruism at all "
- How so? According to my understanding of Objectivism, a truly altruistic morality forbids individual choice. You have to choose to value your self-interest, but follow others to be altruistic.

@Sthlmsodra87 I appreciate your time and your comments, by the way!

@Sthlmsodra87 Response to part 4. Capitalism is about leaving people alone, not pointing guns at them, not forcing them to do anything, not enslaving your fellow human beings, and treating them as equals free to make their own decisions. The value put on other people is the value of a human being, which is to be treated with respect instead of a slave. I believe homosexuals should be able to live their life how they want, and the US is not capitalist - we are fascist and socialist.

@Sthlmsodra87 Response to part 3. I believe the reason why there are less homeless in Sweden than the United States is because you have a more vibrant economy. I believe that when you pay people to not work, you will get more people not working. This is a fundamental law of economics: if you subsidize something you will get more of it, and at the direct cost of something else. Your healthcare isn't "free" it is paid for by pointing guns at your fellow Swedes and taking their money.
Do you agree with Ayn Rand?

@Virtueman1 On most topics, I do. There are a few where I disagree, though. Is there a particular topic you had in mind? The most important thing she brings to the table, in my opinion, is the observation that I put in the description: involuntary altruism isn't altruism at all and shouldn't be treated as such; it is theft and murder and morally abhorrent and wants, and in fact requires the sanction of its victims in order to exist, which itself is a very unstable situation.

@chuska8383 I was thinking about her controversial position that egoism is right.

@Virtueman1 As far as egoism goes...I'm torn. I'm curious if her views would have changed if she had become a mother, for example. She would (hopefully) but her own child above herself, and that would run counter to her absolute egoism. Also, her egoist stand seemed to be quite destructive in her personal life in regards to her open marriage. I also think her former pupil Greenspan is a damning indictment of what can happen when one places one's self and power over those of others.

@chuska8383 Therefore I think she would say "involuntary altruism" is just regular altruism on a grand (political) scale; it is people helping each other to be altruistic by stopping individual choice.

@Virtueman1 Yes, I agree with your observations about the teaching of Objectivism and its position on altruism. However, the way that she describes the parasitic classes as "looters" and "mystics" is lost on too many (practically all?) people in our society. If people were to realize government in all its forms, with the possible exception of the very limited government Rand envisioned and Libertarians wish, that alone would bring sweeping revolution and much good.
