AxeFX + Atomic FR: BrownfacePatch

This is testing a new patch with the AxeFX. It's the Brownface model, but I have a tube driver pedal block) in front. I just got my Rocktron midimate so I'll probably try and tweak just the amp block by itself for the rhythm parts, then dial down the drive as more of a clean boost for a lead tone.

why put a drive pedal in front of the Axe FX? How can we get a good example of what is sounds like?

It must be lacking severely if you need to put a pedal in the front!

First off, it's not a "real" drive pedal. It's a drive block within the AxeFX that is put virtually in front of the brownface amp to get some more grit. The "farting" is due to a sh*t camcorder mic and horrendous compression via YouTube. In the room it's glorius... I can get absolutely stunning tones from any of the 40+ amp sims in this thing using the Atomic FR. You mileage may vary, if you can try one out for the 15 day period you should. Lacking severely..... LOL!

Do you need another power amp to use with Axe-fx or you use atomic FR power amp?

Hi, no - the atomic FR is a 50 watt tube power amp inside a FRFR cab (12" special designed speaker, 4" horn). So it's an all in one solution for use with ANY modeler, not just the AxeFX. I sold my AxeFX due to monetary constraints (and a vintage Princeton NR I needed to have lol!) so I'm picking up a Digidesign 11 Rack. Eventually, if the 11 Rack works for my needs I might even consider getting another one of these... they are great.

Thanks, I am still in testing mode (riff, patch AND Atomic FR lol!) but if you have an AxeFX and are searching for a great monitoring "in the room" solution this is the best I have tried. I've only had to do some very slight tweaking so far (on the patch side, very little adjustment on the Atomic FR tweater level for my particular room) and I'm really happy. This recording sucks from a camcorder/positioning/overload­ing standpoint, but it is what it is. Sounds mucho better 'in the room'.

I have terrible G.A.S. I've not wanted a piece of gear more badly then this in a long time. I've been saving for the past year and I'm still not going to have enough money until may of next year!!!!!! Ahh well, I cannot wait until I have the AXE and two Atomics in my hands... I'm so excited just thinking about plugging my strat in and getting lost for hours...
