One of the greatest synth machines ever played by one of the greatest artists ever!
God bless.

After the immortals (Palestrina, Monteverdi, JS Bach, Mozart, Beethoven), come the geniuses like Schubert, Wagner, Handel, Miles Davis, Zappa, Schoenberg, Stevie Wonder, etc.
I love how he says that using a synth to replicate an (acoustic) instrument is missing the point. A 2600 will never do a trumpet as good as a trumpet. But it can make sounds we've never heard before, like the 'music in his mind'.

@sloiselle1 agree with you except for schoenberg. terrible composer with a musical disease (atonality).

Then he ordered a 2nd one with no braille panel. He had the first one memorized complete.

Stevie actually had his 2600 custom fitted with a braille panel. I'm pretty sure he bought it at Manny's, and when he opened it at his house, he called Henry and said that there was no manual!! Haha!!

YES THANK YOU MAN

Tweaking a 2600... blind! He really is a genius.
That's the same synth they used on Close Encounters of the Third Kind - in fact, the ARP technicial looked so freaky they put him in the film

@billieandmarty You're close. :) The one Stevie used here is an Arp 2600.
The one used in CETK was an Arp 2500. Much larger.
Same company made both tho.

Yes, you're right. Very sorry.
Always mixed them up as a kid.
Changed now. Thank you again.
