@ZX6RTOXIC THANX FOR THE RESPONSE. I PRETTY MUCH USE THE SAME NAIL AND SCREW COMBO EXCEPT I'VE BEEN USING GORILLA WOOD GLUE INSTEAD OF THE TIGHT BOND. THE SIZE OF THE BOX AND POWER HANDLING DETERMINES HOW I USE MY NAILS AND SCREWS . SMALLER BOXES WITH LOW POWERED SUBS JUST GET THE NAIL AND GLUE TREATMENT. THANKS FOR THE INFO. I'VE BUILT A LOT OF BOXES OVER THE YEARS AND I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE I WAS PRETTY MUCH USING THE BEST POSSIBLE TECHNIQUE. YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF THANKS FOR THE TIPS!

THREE QUESTIONS IF YOU DONT MIND. 1. WHICH IS BETTER GLUE AS FAR AS STRENGTH, TIGHT BOND OR GORILLA WOOD GLUE? 2. DO YOU USE A BRAD NAIL GUN ALONG WITH THE GLUE? 3. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR 1" MDF FROM. I GO TO HOME DEPOT AND CANT FIND IT THERE AT ALL. THANX!

I use Tight Bond 2 Glue. I use a Nail 1.75" long and nail about every 3" then once box is complete I pre drill and Counter sink 1.5" Screws about every 7" So my boxes are Glued , Nailed, and Screwed.
THE 1" WOOD I HAPPEN TO HAVE A WOOD COMPANY ABOUT 20 MILES AWAY I GET MY 1" MDF at . No one local like down the road sells 1" It has to be a pretty big wood company. and its like $48 bucks a sheet My home depot and my lowes now sell 3/4 for $ 36 bucks a sheet CRAZY high@cadillacon24z

I use Tight Bond II its a quick drying glue . But its bad ass. I mean this in a way where if you put a bead of glue on the wood and dont spread it quick it starts drying so fast that it will clump up more less. when this happens its not going to be as easy to get a good tight joint. Tight Bond III is slower, But its not as thick to me .. I just like the II better. I have both for the larger areas or lid the last piece that needs to go on. I use the III it gives that window I need.

what kind of glue do you use when building your boxes?

Also just a note about the glue its very good. you can put 2 pieces of wood together just the flat part hold in hand pressing for 20 or 30 sec. let sit for 3 or 4 min. and have someone take it apart. It will rip the wood apart before you can get to the area you glued. its that strong.@DeptulaRacing
