  • @Liminalitea Agreed.

  • This is taking Bishop Sheen out of context. While I don't support Obama, I think doing this is disingenuous and definitely takes away from the point he was trying to make - it cuts him off mid-point, in fact. Sheen is an intelligent, holy man - this video makes him look bad.

  • Who does this guy think he is? Superman, with a cape? Love his dress, too. I wonder what shoes he's wearing. Something in a low heel, I expect.

  • Bishop Sheen is telling the world to look out and see that we should not treat all people alike. We should listen to the heartbroken ones whose children have been snatched from us and they are truly wanting to LIVE. Some of our friends have grown deaf during their lives. Some do not hear the muffled cry for help. There are MURDERERS in our world! God does not make junk! Humans make junk!

  • Bishop Sheen was the bishop of my home diocese from 1965 to 1969 and he was one of the most progressive and enlightened people on all social issues we'd ever seen...to say he'd have criticized Obama is to take him completely out of context. (He also opposed the Vietnam War and strongly supported Dr. King, by the way...) Don't smear a great man's memory.

  • If viewers would listen to Bishop sheen's entire talk on compassion, rather than simply this apparently inflammatory and misleading excerpt, they might arrive at a different conclusion. This juxtaposition offered here seems malicious and misleading.

  • Is this Count Dracula, or what?

  • How wicked! I don't see Sheen disapproving of basic justice. Detention with no charge of crime is a police state. Lucifer dies tricks like this video! Bishop Sheen was a wonderful Christian man who could never praise injustice. You, see, he understood compassion. You obviously never will.

  • I love Sheen!!

  • @GregariousGorilla ....Here goes in Depth...Frankly...'This guys one Fry short of a Happy Meal'

  • @jrlomy2k I feel sorry for you that you no longer belong to the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ, in favor of your own imaginary church. Cannon 751 defines schism as "withdrawal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or from communion with the members of the Church subject to him," which you are in a state of. Without a visible pope (as you claim) to confer apostolic authority we have no Church. Yet Jesus says of the Church "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Was He wrong too?

  • @baguazhang77 There is absolutely NO "misinterpretation" of Vatican II: It where the Antichrist usurped Peter's Throne, as Our Lady of LaSalette predicted. VII is in ABSOLUTE and COMPLETE contradiction of what Christ taught and what has existed for almost 2000 years. It's pseudopopes were never validly elected and are manifest heretics besides.

  • @GregariousGorilla To be "nice" is to be ignorant. It is a 13th Century English definition from a movement called the "know nothings". So no, I will not be "nice" to people who do not understand love. As Catholics, and as human beings, we are to INSTRUCT the ignorant, not to be 'nice' to them. To be "nice" is to permit their behavior and frankly, turns people into yellow-spined cowards.

  • @GregariousGorilla To be "nice" to one who victimizes others or abuses themself only feeds their disease. It's called "enabling behavior" in psychology. With these people, you need to invoke "tough love". It's a respect for the person and for the good that we wish they could find in themselves and in the world, but a respect that comes with unyielding boundaries that make communication very clear! It can be seen as "mean" to some. Honestly, "nice" is just another way of ignoring troubled people.

  • What is wrong with being nice to people who do not understand love? Murderers and rapists? I don't understand his message at all. Can someone please explain it to me in depth?

  • @Abercius24 Agreed!

  • I'm no fan of Obama, but this is a non sequitur. Abu Ghraib was closed because they were engaged in torture and sexual humiliation. I don't think Bishop Sheen was for such prisions, perhaps not on the basis of compassion, but certainly on the basis of basic human decency.

  • @baguazhang77 mhfm = religious porn.

  • @Undertaker5712 I have been to both of those sites, find their arguments extremely weak and contrived, and do not come remotely close to drawing the conclusions they do from the information they present. Aside from the heresies on those sites however, Brother Diamond (mhfm) has some of the best apologetics materials that I have seen, which I frequently consult.

    In any event, Merry Christmas.

  • @baguazhang77 well go to this website and youtube channel.

go to vaticancatholic(dot)com and the youtube channel called mhfm1.

You will find out how it contradicts the Councils of the Holy Catholic Church and that it is not a "ecumenical council". It is Heresy.

  • @philipmarie1854 Who in the world are you, to challenge the authority of a legitimate Church council? You claim to have more authority than Bishop Sheen, much less Christ's Holy Catholic Church? That makes you the heretic.

I will be the first to person to say that Vatican II was woefully misinterpreted (e.g., as you are doing) and used as an excuse to implement/perpetuate many abuses, but that does not mean the council was flawed, only the individual people that implemented it.

  • a better example would be his promise to sign FOCA into law as the 1st thing once he became president.

  • ~The first message coincides perfectly with what the second demonstrates. Misguided compassion.

  • @madelefant05 Thats not true. I've seen some of his talks and absolutely LOVE his book 'The Worlds First Love' and though he was rather melodramatic in his condemntion of communism, he did much good in the Church. Pity he fell into the heresy of Vatican II...

  • This guy is certifiable.
