Paragliding in Panchgani - I Tookoff I Glided I Landed (Missed the landinng strip a little).MP4

ParaGliding in Panchgani: 25th December 2010.

First of all! I suffer from Acrophobia (Fear of Heights), still I end up doing things for which I curse myself.

This time it was Paragliding in Panchgani. I wanted to do this since a long time and this was the chance.

We did this through a professional Paragliding group called "Joy-Ride ParaGliding & ParaSailing Association"- Panchgani, Government Approved.

These people took us to a Paragliding Location in a Vehicle, awesome view with some Strawberry farm in the way. We were asked to wear all protective gears.

After that, one of the guy started pulling me towards the edge of that cliff. This was the time I started rethinking cos my fear of heights was bugging me, at that very moment a powerful gust of wind came and inflated the glider in no time. The pilot took this chance and leaped forward. This happened so quickly that when I was done looking at the inflating glider and I turned my face towards the cliff -- Boom.

We tookoff..............Awesome.............I was gliding for the first time..........I was a feeling as if I was transformed into a bird...............

It was an Amazing Experience, the one that everyone should, I repeat should experience once in their lifetime. Your job is just sit and enjoy the view. Cameras are allowed, just that you need to safeguard them to the glider properly. I went first then my wife. I saw and shot her takeoff when I was landing.

We were gliding over the Treetops, sometimes very close even to the cliff wall. Then the altitude started dropping. I was an exhilarating view, where Trucks looked like Toy-Trucks. Our landing location was a road very close to a newly constructed dam. Hopefully in a year or two it will be full of H2O.

It is during the landing, when you should keep your legs straight and let the pilot do the landing for you. In our landing we were aiming straight to the road strip. Just at the last moment again a powerful gust of wind came and pushed us on the left side. The pilot just recovered from it only to find out that we are very close to the ground. We landed diagonally on the right side edge of the road.

It was Fun..........totally worth the money I spent for it.........

Next am thinking of "Bungee jumping" He Ha..........
