Excellent! Thanks for having a go at sharing/brainstorming a very difficult problem, yet well sort after solution

I think you're thinking of Google Wave.

Yes, it's possible, but you would have to have one of two: lots of money, or to face the same downsides of decentralization within Diaspora project (hosting your own stuff on your own digital gadget - real control of your privacy). For one way of communication (aggregation) there's bit (dot) ly (slash) ggBdfQ and for posting/hosting your stuff to other sites will always depend on their API. Always. You should talk to Diaspora guys in a more focused form. This is very fuzzy.

Instead of trying to re-create a new granular "big idea of resurrecting social networking" it would be a better move to create pros and cons with an existing open source ideas (including diaspora) and bold your thoughts graphically on a single page. No b/s, no chit-chat, no "I don't know" stuff... give us something that you do know, put it in a simple form, link it to other videos where you can elaborate each particle, so people could have a better view of your thought. This is fuzzy.

@eriklanigan should do a tour of where and how he does all of his nntake/ non twit videos.....

that depends on. I am with you for your idea if you can handle all, with one thing. And that the point, for me the ideal is the OS and i dont want to miss, the easy and beauty of apps interface and the multi touch gestures which you can customize with apps, too. What i want to say if you can organize all the stuff with one App, its better of course but i dont want to let all my stuff done with a browser (except it can give me the interface and quick access like all my other Apps).
Eric, I think you are right. The only thing we need to make sure is to somehow make this open social platform only be accessible by ourselves only. You should be able to take all your data with you even if you decide to cancel that account. Hopefully diaspora would fill in the gaps facebook leaves open and make it even a better platform were one can tie all its personal info, login while providing super encrypted access to it. Just a thought.

@TheNaturallyGeek Yes, but I have doubts about Diaspora's model -- and about the pace of their development.

its a good point. But i think it isnt really that way you ve described. Its the applications of the web. The way Apple goes... I ve my email client, a facebook app which is in the menu bar, if i want to post stuff i drag it on a icon on the desktop, twitter and Adium and growl notification. Thats perfect. It could be made better, if you ve more setting like privacy, account and tracking stuff, sure... i am with you at that point. With Lion (mission controll, full screen app) it would be better.

@MrOliver1444 I'm not sure what you mean. It sounds like you're describing a world where 5 applications are required just to get your stuff to Facebook. That seems far from ideal.
