Candlestick Park, Former Home of the Giants

Candlestick Park was the home of the San Francisco Giants from 1960 to 1999. A miserable place for many visiting teams and fans because of it's wind and cold weather, but my favorite ballpark of all time. The Giants now play at AT&T Park six miles north of Candlestick in downtown since 2000.

The stadium was a disaster from day one. First, the heating system never worked and the City never attemped to have it fixed. Second, the drainage system on the field has never worked, hence the urban legend that the field is under sea level (it's not). And of course the boomerang shape was suppose to shield the wind. We know how that worked out.

@joraider08 True Candlestick was one of the coldest but i at&t can be just as bad.

What a dump hole of a ballpark..The thing was a mistake from the beginning when then club President Chub Feeney decided to visit the construction site of the park one afternoon in late 1959 and asked the construction supervisor is it always this windy in the afternoon. The sup's reply: Yes sir..Plus I attended a lot of games at night in August where you felt like you were in Buffalo mid winter.
