@HearingEveryRhyme And BY THE WAY, Republicans ACTUALLY never had control of the Senate or the House at all during FDR's presidency, not till 1946. So "blame Republicans," even though they had no legislative power? Do you have half a brain in your skull? And in Hoover's presidency, when Republicans did have control, they weren't acting very small govt/free trade like. Hawtley-Smoot Tariff? Hoover pulling FDR lite with social programs? Ever heard of em?

@HearingEveryRhyme Tell that to my 90 year old grandmother, who's family spent the whole decade living in an attic. And you have it reversed. Unemployment skyrocketed because the Repubs couldn't overturn much without FDR's courtpacked socialist judges overruling them. And FDR would never sign em period so the depression lasted longer. Ex: what's so common sense about the FDR's Agricultural Adjustment Act? Destroy crops when people are starving in the middle of a depression? Right........not.

@martymcfett The New Deal was common sense. The numbers prove it. Under Hoover unemployment was up, and following the ND unemployment went down. When Republicans came back into legislative power, they started overturning it, and unemployment skyrocketed. It was the first successful recovery plan for the Depression, but it taken apart and it was the War the pulled the economy out of the gutter.
