Here's one C64 game I did get working - the Commodore version of the popular scrolling platform shoot-em up.

I'd already praised and reviewed the Spectrum version, but that's no guarantee I'll like this version.

  • Sounds is shit,.... graphics are blocky..... What the fuck game were you talking about when you were reviewing Midnight resistance? I always wondered why ZZap64 bitched about Spectrum owners, now I know.

  • At least the Spectrum version has sounds, where are the C64 ones? The C64 is capable of some terrific sound and music, but it's poor for this game.

The game is pretty similar on both machines, but the Spectrum one is easier, and I find the chunkier, cartoony graphics more appealing. Like I say, whilst watching the video on Youtube, the C64 version looks more impressive than I remember at the time.

  • Double Dragon II was great though!!! But I agree, the gameplay of the first part was very poor. Best conversion ever is Green Beret, which in my view actually beats the coin-up version, check it!

  • You have great music in your games but no taste of game music; twice now I've gone "ooh, nice music" and then you've said it's shit. ;P

I should also probably stop watching and commenting on every single one of your vids and get on with some work....

  • To be honest i love this game in the arcades. If i would'nt seen this shit in C64 back then i would chuck this bullshit out the window. I bought the Genesis version and though it was the best conversion but i hate the fact it was only one player.

  • Ah, this is the Spectrum guy with the biased C64 reviews. ;)

The Speccy version of this was a mess and moved liked a Game and Watch game.

  • Dude MR was one of the better arcade to C64 conversions if you really want a C64 disaster play Double Dragon on C64. That conversion was infamous for how shit and rushed it was.

  • Strange, this is one of my Fav games for music on the C64. I also much prefer it over the speccy. Also the cheat is great, when you die and it asks you to rewind the tape - don't simply tell it you have and voila it loads up the next level with all your lives intact

  • dude ur so fucking funny more vids

  • God,I remember getting this game for Christmas in 1990. Spent the entire day playing it with my cousin, along with the other games in the "Night Moves" pack that came with my commodore. Shadow Warriors,Sly Spy,and Nightbreed. Do you remember those games? I Loved this one-I remember if you typed in "Siamese" after its game over, and you put in your initials for the high score table, you got infinate lives.

  • I like to see certain games win out on the spectrum over the C64 (because it was rarely the case)this game is definately better on the Spectrum, the C64 version is quite barren looking tbh, whereas the Speccy version looks more like Metal slug
