The Da Vinci surgical robot has gained a reputation as an indispensable tool for surgeons performing delicate surgical procedures. But that's not all it can do, as Dr James Porter of Seattle's Swedish Medical Center was eager to demonstrate.

Meet Da Vinci, the surgical robot which makes operations minimally invasive and allows the surgeon extreme precision in confined spaces.

Dr. James Porter, director of surgical robotics at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle says Da Vinci offers patients less post-operative pain, shorter hospital stays, less blood loss and faster recovery time ... but that's not all.

It can also make paper planes.

The original Da Vinci was well known for his experimental flying machines.

His robotic namesake may be adept at folding them ... but flying them?

Leonardo may have been disappointed.
