As it goes with Mushi-shi, it starts slow and picks up later. This series is one of the most beautiful anime out there, one of my top favorites.

The music is "A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics" by James Horner, from the "A Beautiful Mind" soundtrack.

  • I show this clip to people whenever I talk about this series. And my sis who hates anime is willing to watch one episode of this with me. But how do I choose only one?!

  • @duddledeedo Perhaps Tanyuu's episode?

  • you are correct, mushi shi has some of the most beautiful artwork in anime so far and probably will ever have. along with some creepy. The landscapes that it portrays, at least 1 each episode and a new ordeal with each scene, it is a shame they ended the series, i am hoping for a season 2 or a continuation in the manga. and btw, i love the amv :D great work.

  • The director did say they are wanting to create another season if possible, so there's certainly hoping ^_^.

  • This is a simply stunning AMV. You wouldn't happen to have a download link that you would like to share with me so I can watch if forever and ever, would you?

  • Sorry, not at the moment.

  • @yincira I think our best hope is that they see us paying for it, buying it. That gives them the incentive and the finances to produce a new season.

  • @duddledeedo thank god. heh, then i'm not sorry if you're not. :P

  • @nactan oh no, I started to work up through the series from the beginning and got to ep 21. Your post came a little late :p

  • @duddledeedo yeah, she probably is. i feel kind of responsible. i admit i intended to spook her a bit, but i didn't know she was 7.

  • @nactan I think she's still too young to see it like that. But it doesn't matter anymore, she doesn't want to hear any of it now. Maybe when she's older she'll learn to appreciate it.

  • @duddledeedo have you tried explaining to her that the whole point of the episode is that mushi are not evil? it's a tragic tale of two species trying to protect their children (spores in the case of mushi) portrayed with exquisite sensitivity. it even comes out and says so in some of the most touchingly honest lines of dialog i've heard in anime: "it's not our fault" "it's not ours either" "soo ka, then we have no choice..."

  • @duddledeedo heh, fact is, any of the first few, does just fine :D cause it's still on the "introducing the concept" stage hehehe.

  • @thedeadserv the thing is, she already knew about that ep, and I wanted to show her something new, so I went with the first ep -- which I think is a great introduction by itself..

  • @duddledeedo I'd go with Sui's episode (2nd I think, the one about the second eyelids)

  • @duddledeedo Yeah, Mushi-shi is a good series in it's own way but I have to say it leaves with a lot of questions. That's even hard for an adult. Take care.
