"Ther[e] is no longer any Global warming trend for the next 30 years at least."
I'd like you to cite your evidence for this to support your opinion please.

@Herecomesthefatlady Are you still living in the nutty professor's masquerade? The CERN results are just out which seem to verify Svensmark's theory. Meanwhile La Nina is building for the winter, the PDO is in a thirty year cool phase, the Sun is entering a Grand Minimum and every level of the Atmosphere is cooling. Ther is no longer any Global warming trend for the next 30 years at least.

OK so your post didn't raise much interest (it was 2 months ago) but even then Muller (formerly a climate contrarian) had released his interim results from research he'd been funded to do - namely re-analysing the instrumental temperature record. It was not exactly ground-breaking, except that it confirmed the findings of the IPCC. Quote: "we see a global warming trend that is very similar to that previously reported by the other groups."
Well Duh.

See climategate 'hide the decline' explained by prof richard muller. The best and most up to date supercomputer in the world has concluded that the Planet is now cooling and will continue to do so for decades. The brain is wonderfull, why don't you use yours?

@garygnu01 Life did flourish in the Jurassic the big question is would we. The climate back then was very different. Much more tropical. Current tropical areas, mainly rainforest, are not good agricultural lands. Agriculture=civilization.
But the real issue is the rate of change. Given a long slow increase in temperatures animals and plants are able to evolve. If the change occurs too fast there's no time to adapt. Mass die offs are associated with sudden climate change. Rate now is very fast.

@garygnu01 Hi Gary. You are right, the video does suggest warming is unprecedented in absolute warmth terms. I didn't notice and should have. It is unprecedented in that we are causing it and the rate of warming may be unprecedented. However one can't say that last one as a fact.
Which scientists think there is a cycle? Things don't just happen without a cause. We understand the things that have big impacts on climate: sun, Co2, aerosols, albedo. Only CO2 explains the current warming.
-
@garygnu01If you google Early faint Sun Paradox you'll find articles that indirectly talk about changes in solar brightness. It is generally accepted that stars that burn hydrogen, as our sun does, slowly become more luminous over time. During the Jurassic Period the sun was a little less than 4% dimmer. If 4% doesn't sound like much consider that it means if CO2 fell to 3000 ppm it would permit glacial conditions. Under today's sun glaciers disappearing with less than 400 ppm CO2.

@garygnu01 Where did you get the info that the sun was less powerful over the jurassic 50+ million year period? I’m interested.
-
Hi rugbyguy. I'm only pointing out that the caption to this video is " Recent global warming is unprecedented in comparison to previous cyclic clima..." This is not true. Many many scientists think that we are simply experiencing normal fluctuations considering Earths ENTIRE history. Life flourished in the Jurassic period when C02 was about 10 times higher so the point is "what is the panic over higher C02 levels?"
-
@garygnu01Have a look at some science yourself. No scientist has ever said the current warming is unprecedented over the earth's entire history. So what if it was warmer in the Jurassic? So what if there was more CO2? Did you know the sun was less powerful then too? That actually demonstrates the power of CO2 as a GHG. Key point we and our agriculture weren't around then.
The hockey stick doesn't show temp dictates CO2 levels that's the ice cores. But that doesn't mean CO2 can't dictate temp.
I do not see how the current temperature is unprecedented. Compare temperatures now to 1, 10, 100, 1K, 10K and 100K years ago.
2007 was warmer than 2008.
1998 was warmer than 2008.
1909 was cooler than 2008.
1008 was about the same as 2008.
8K BC was during the Holocen Optimum and warmer than 2008.
100 BP was during an ice age.
This puts 2008 in 4th place only warmer than 1908 and an Ice Age which I doubt we would want.

Notice that 3 of the 4 warmest years in recent history were in the last 10 years.
Sidenote: I doubt that accurate data could be used to exactly pinpoint 1008 as one of the warmest years.
