China says it has fully established a socialist system of Laws covering all areas of society. According to the country's top legislator, the system provides a legal basis for the country's economic and social construction.

While some laws have embraced greater leniency, others are getting harsher. In the past, intoxicated drivers only had to fear losing points on their license and getting a slight fine.
