Sapa is located at an altitude of 1.500m above sea level mostly inhabited by Hmong people. It is close to the Chinse border. It is one of the most attractive spot in Vietnam. During the weekends, alot of tourist and locals crowded at the famous "Love market" which has become a legendary, and also visit the villages of ethnic people in the mountain and climb up Fanxipan, the highest mount in South East Asia.

There are about 6 ethnic groups living around Sapa, the two biggest are Red Dzao and Black Hmong. Others are Dzay, Xa Pho and Tay. Most ethnic women are very hardworking while men spend their time with opium, rice wine or hanging around.

Sa Pa is cool all year round with an average temperature of about 15-18OC.
