Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design fielded a team in the 2010 Denver Chalk Art Festival. Faculty member David Mesplelead a team of students in the creation of an anamorphic distortion of Salvador Dali.
The abstraction on the pavement appears as a perfectly formed portrait when reflected in a mirrored cylinder in the center of the work.
Our piece won the Audience Choice Award.
RMCAD also sponsored the High School Challenge at the festival.
Joining David were RMCAD students Jacqueline Cortez, Andy Hirsch, Annalisa Kleinschmidt, David Laskowski, Julie Luu, Brandon Mannheimer, Tyler McCall, Kathryn Minney, and Rachel Timble, and staff members Chris Davis and Eliza Matheson. Faculty member Teddy Schmedke-Lee guided the team as they finished up on Sunday, June 6.
The festival is held annually in Larimer Square, in the heart of Downtown Denver.
