I'm not sure who taught you 1-inch punch, but 1-inch punch doesn't use front 2 knuckles, use the bottom three, twisting your wrist upwards. Nice break though, 1-inch punch is a very fun technique.

Nice break Sir, this was quite awhile ago.

If you HAVE to perform a punch like this i would suggest not trying to change guard while you do it or at least not to have your left hand so far forward. When you change guard at that speed you have to pull the leeding arm back with the same force and the same distance as the hand thats striking to produce real solid power(but this isnt practical here).

The OIP is great in situations where your in a heated argument and theres a lot of pointing going on, but the idea that they can produce anywhere close to the amount of power that a regular punch can produce is misguided.
This was my 3rd Dan test, so yes it was a while ago. I am currently testing for 4th dan.

If you notice he snaps the punch yet his left hand only pulls back. Thats 2 movements on the right hand and only 1 on the left. Thats an unballanced move.+ dont try to use as much force. Its only a board, not solid concrete.

All very helpful. I haven't studied the OIP in any detail and your feedback is specific and direct. Thanks.

Hmmm... ive had chance to slow it down and now im not so sure. It may be very fast but when you slow it down its kinda sloppy an uncontrolled IMO. He is focusing to much on putting all his power into his striking hand + he twists his hips to much. This causes the strike to curve sharply to the left on contact almost taking him complely off balance. Shame, it looked good at first :(

Thank you even more for the critical examination of the technique. I will certainly keep this advice in mind. Also, a question: if the power isn't to come from the hips, from where would you advise it be generated?

This is a very intresting video. Im making a video on 1 inch punch's and this has to be the most impressive ive seen so far. It is still only breaking one single board which we all know doesnt take a great deal of power but its certainly the fastest ive seen. I cant wait to get it on a timer and see just how fast.

Thank you for the compliment. Please do be aware that the camera is not a high quality one may cause the punch to appear different. I think any 1 inch punch has to be done with great speed though.
