Steve Mann ( www.stevemanngtr.com ) was one of the most influential and remarkable blues guitarists on the scene until his disappearance in the mid '60s. Steve re-emerged in Berkeley CA in 2003, and his website features the CD "Alive and Pickin'", showcasing some of Steve's finest performances, including some rehearsal tapes with Janis Joplin. He passed away in Sept. '09, but Bella Roma Music has now re-issued most of the recorded archives of his brilliant early playing. Here, Rolly Brown plays Steve's trademark arrangement of the 99 Year Blues, and hopes that you'll visit Steve's site!

very nice tribute to steve mann. steve worked out some of the piano licks of mose allison and ray charles (if you live and drown in my own tears). my favorite steve mann tune is one he put together called 'gospel tune'. but everything he played had that special juice...there's a guy in santa rosa who has tabbed out several of steve's tunes perfectly. some of today's best players in that style are tommy emmanuel, tuck andress, lenny breau...actually, there's a lot of great players everywhere!
It would be nice to get those tabs. Do you have the contact info. Also, Lenny Breau passed a few years ago, a great player. The video he did with Tal Farlow is excellent.
