I baked an algae paste onto the stones to adapt them to prepared food. It is a mix of chorella, spirulina, liquid live marine algae, egg white, gelatin, and water. In some mixes, I've also used frozen baby brine shrimp, and high protein powder food, such as hikari first bites. The paste is made with warm water, and then brushed onto the stones, and baked at low temperature until dry. (150ºF) It has been a useful food for me, for both the hard to feed stiphodon, but also for shrimp
