Dave McDonald show us the Sony VO-3800 Portable Umatic video cassette recorder. Utilizing external color playback adapter, built into the AC adapter, Sony was just able to squeeze everything into the VCR. It was seldom required to have color playback on location. BW playback was adequate to let the producers know if they had picture on tape.

  • you whats funny a lot of tv networks are kicking them selfs now . if you have something that you record back then they might pay you very well. a nice unit back then still good to hold to for vintage reasons.

  • I have a VO-3800, it works well 35 years after its manufacturing. It is really a heavy device. Thanks for uploading.

  • Awesome video clip, and very informative. I loved the "One can hold this is one hand, not for too long, but you can hold it in one hand", nice.

  • Interesting.
