A Norfolk Southern local passes through North Canton, North Carolina. The conductor had to get off the train to protect against the crossing. This trains power was unlike any other train you would see on the mainlines in 2010, no GEVO locomotives or General Electric all EMD!

Conrail 5430 (EMD SD50)
NS 3240 (SD40-2 High Hood)
NS 6790 (SD60M)

  • Damn, you hit the lighting just right on this one. 5/5

  • Thanks a lot Steve. We had to drive through a red light and cut someone off to catch this....But luckily there was no traffic.

  • Nice catch on that former Conrail SD50!!! Those are getting rarer and rarer, also looks like 6790 got repainted from blue? :-(

    NICE catch EMD!

  • Hello Eric,

Thanks for commenting. The (ex) Conrail locomotives are sure beautiful machines. I wasn't sure if 6790 was an ex-connie or not. Thanks again.
