This is me landing a Piper Cherokee Archer after a rather turbulent flight back from Ardmore (approx 40nm away). Just after my friend in the right seat (also a pilot) pointed out the possible turbulence from the row of trees to the left of the threshold, we hit a big patch of sink that required full power to arrest. I ended up about 50 feet high with a lot of airspeed and wondered aloud if we were going to make it. Listen to what happens after we touch down!

  • That was quite a bit of turbulence...must have been hot that day! or Windy!!!

  • @FujiR500 yeah it was pretty windy, 15-20knots but at least it was reasonably steady and not gusting.

  • Im not allowed to land yet, i have 3.5 hours!

  • Keep up with the training and you'll be landing before you know it.

  • You know what they say: any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. That was a good landing in bad conditions. Well done

  • Yep! Im 15 years old and he said when i get about 12 hours i can land it, but i have been doing a few approaches myself

  • @ID0MiN4T0RI i have landed and i only had 1hr

  • Sometimes we get high winds associated with lows or cold fronts here in Tampa, FL like that. Only conditions can get pretty ungly because of the massive humidity and heat. I fly a piper warrior out of KPIE here in florida.

  • I've only done 8 hours dual instruction and done many landings, also done 3 hours solo!

  • Nice landing!

  • i had my 4th arrow flight and for the first time we had to "down" (put in for maintenance) the aircraft cuz i landed way too hard...i pulled power back and we fell out of the sky, 100 feet short of my point of indicated landing (short field landing)...its all a learning experience i guess
