Is your iTunes music collection a disaster? Three simple steps can help you get it back in order. These steps won't fix everything, but they are the ones you should do first, and they will likely take you less than 15 minutes. The companion article with much more detailed information is at http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399484,00.asp . Part 2 will appear on 6 February 2012.

  • 134 songs? I have 40,000 :=

  • @TheseOpenRoads You'll notice that in the video, she works only with small batches of files at a time. The full article (available Mon. Jan. 30) further explains why you should do that, but it's even more applicable to you if you have 40,000 songs. Thanks for your feedback.

  • this only works for imported songs from a cd -_-

  • @GetPatriotized Yes, but if you are planning to undertake a huge project like cleaning up your iTunes library, you probably want to do these steps FIRST. The article that will be linked here on Jan. 30 better explains this rationale. Thanks for your comment.

  • Clean up iTunes ?!? I should downright DELETE that crap from my PC... I only keep it because I HAVE to use it with my iPod Touch... It takes up a gig and a half for fucking nothing... No other program on my PC, excepting games.. NOT A SINGLE ONE, takes up this much space.. I can't just use my iPod like virtually ANY OTHER MP4 on the market, that is, open it up like a USB stick, fill it with a ton of crap and be done.. I have to sync and import my songs and fuck it in the ass.. Piece of shit..
