Combining the instrumental influence of Ray Brown and Charles Mingus and the vocal styling of Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, jazz bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb has created a sound all her own. This concert was filmed in early 2005 at Vienna's famous jazz club "Porgy & Bess," and features a truly magically performance by Korb.

  • i love......

  • If anyone is familiar with the early jazz scene, or any of the music from the 20's to the 40's, this is the beauty of the music! Awesome video, beautiful voice!!

  • Pitchy? Let me guess Randy Jackson is your hero? The girl is Way talented

  • @Owlbatross What pitchy? you're nuts!!!! just her spin leave it!

  • @Owlbatross

Please, put the pitch correction away, no music needs to be harmed here ;-)

I'm inclined to accept pitch variations as just one among the many artifacts that lend music a truly human feel. Subtle manipulations of pitch are also sometimes intentional, and add color.

Pitch correction is always like bad plastic surgery, and the scars are brutal.

  • i don't know what the drummers face looks like but i have his bald spot memorized.

    phenomenal playing, shit's bananas

  • I'd like to add to my commentary below that the piano has its own built-in auto-tune! :0) this is why it would be optimum her vocals be in pitch with it. Actually, the bass a few cents lower than the A440 intended sounds great and is a trick to employ when sequencing on a digital multi-track.

  • She's pitchy vocally, but look what she's doing? If I were a sound engineer, I'd employ that softare program they abuse on GLEE (Melodyne) and run her vocal through it for auto-pitch correction on the fly ... set at levels, whereby you can't tell there's a program at all ... used all throughout the country music industry (Faith Hill & her husband) and Cher (abusive version like GLEE), this would be a terrific thing, because naturally, the contrabass with no frets is varying in pitch.

  • Loved her since 98--first time to see others who know her! She's the best.
