Legendary historian Howard Zinn joins us to talk about war, torture and the teaching of history. Zinn says Obama had Obama heeded the lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., he wouldnt be escalating US attacks abroad and increasing the size of the US military budget. We also play excerpts of the forthcoming documentary, The People Speak, featuring dramatic readings based on Zinns A Peoples History of the United States and Voices of a Peoples History of the United States. • Don't confuse the Democrats with the left.

  • I'm reading Zinn's book "A Peoples History of The United States" and I am amazed at all the things that were left out of usual history books, that he included and I find him amazing and he was a great Historian. R.I.P Howard Zinn

  • @MAZDAKPRODUCTION don't put Ahmadinejad in the same category as Dr. King.

  • history will entail MLK & Ahmadinejad are the real peace prize winners

  • @npl12 dude look he is a ACCLAIMED historian he has his own spinn on it and if so were did he get his facts from ? and is this book put down as real or just his view is it true ? tell me that

  • Obama is still better than the alternative.

  • @ihatehorry perfect :)

  • American history has already been distorted and you have bought into the mainstream view of it. Listening to and acknowledging marginalized voices is not only moral but it is a responsibility of being a good american. you have to understand the power structure and how it works because you are clearly ignorant about it

  • @poopstreek, Democrats have always been people to be despised by the left. The Democratic Party was the party of slaveholders and militant western expansionists, of Jim Crow, of WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, of Japanese internment, etc, etc.

The Party's role since the 1890's has been to co-opt true leftist movements like the populist movement, the IWW, the American Communist Party, the Civil Rights movement, and the anti-Iraq-War movement, in order to blunt those movements' power.

  • @jaimesandoval1988 add john Perkins to that list
