The M7's were going pretty slow for rush hour

Not on Metro North, they aren't. There are still about 36 cars, all for use on the Yankee Stadium service that will be opened when the new Yankee Stadium is opened. And I also happened to see a 10 car set of M1's sitting in Hillside when I was going out to Syosset about 3 weeks ago, so apparently, you're wrong. And if you wanna split hairs...fine...give me an M3, which I KNOW is still in service, over an M7 any day of the week.
