  • hey whats the name of that pink clip ur using? i think its sooo cute i need one! lol ;)

  • @girlb0t Sorry for the super late response. They are T-Rex clips available at Sally Beauty and Ulta.

  • I am going to keep watching the vids of the people that I sub to so I can learn. I am terrible at it. I can't braid BUT I am starting to do two strand twist my hair now. You are so right that it takes patience and practice. For now, I just do puff and afros.

  • Don't feel bad 'cause I can't even cornrow my own hair well... the shame. I leave cornrows to the professionals :-)

  • the way you are describing the 4 B hair will make nobody want to have it. Do not hold a style? Oh no! the most defined twist outs ever. the the sheen ( not shine) that gives that sexy look on afros etc. etc.

  • Hmmm, sorry about that...not my intent (especially since it's what's on the side of my head). Guess I was just rambling and that's how it came out...I could've just said more suseptable to humidity or something. Sowwy.

  • Thanks for this vid! I think it's very important that you pointed out that you do NOT need to always STYLE your hair. You may choose to just wear a default style everyday and that's okay. Some people are low-maintenance and prefer it this way and there's nothing wrong with that. Others are more creative need a new style every other day and that's fine too.

  • Change your aesthetic. That really struck a cord with me. Thanks for sharing.

  • I've been natural for 5 years. I know my texture love my texture but I cannot style my own hair. I don't wear fake hair nor do I really have the money to go to the salon. I have 2 styles fro and puff that I can do on myself. I'm really tired of the same look all the time, yet I don't want to go back to relaxers.

  • Oh, and BTW, I've been natural for 3 years and I still can't cornrow of 2-strand flat-twist my own hair. I can do it on other people's hair, but trying it on myself w/o practice is just asking for trouble (lol)

  • You made an excellent point about getting to know your real hair texture in the beginning of being natural. On my website I actually used one of the same words you use, "hiding" from your hair. Too many women hide from their hair in the beginning because they feel they can't deal with it. What they don't realize is that if they just learn the proper ways to care for their natural texture, they can deal with anything. Great vid!

  • Excellent ramble ;)

  • Great video and advice! I think you covered a lot of good points for different people with different styling expectations. Even though I have been natural for over 6 years, I really didn't learn to work with my 'natural' texture (always in extensions or pressed) until about 2 years ago. And you're right, I am so much quicker at my favorite style, mini 2 strand twists, now that I"ve mastered it. Twists have allowed me to have a more low maintentance lifestyle when it comes to my hair.
