A few months ago I uploaded this vid but it got blocked by Youtube for most people because of the music. Now I try again with different music, I hope it works...

Nice flying weather was scarce last summer but one day in september I got a chance to take my Easystar out for another spin. This time I went even further than in my previous videos. I think I'm really pushing my luck now though. I won't go much further until I get me a helical antenna for my videogear and some UHF RC stuff :-) I plan on doing that this spring/summer season.

I'm still amazed by the awesome performance of the Futaba FASST system, the excellent multipath rejection of the Cloverleaf antennas and the range that can be squeezed out of a mere 200mw 5.8GHz. RX/TX combo. One of these days I'll upload a video to show just how bad my videoquality was with the stock rubber duck antennas under the same circumstances on the same spot.

My setup:

Multiplex Easystar (hangar.nl)
KX550 5v camera
BEVRC CEOSD
R-617 FS FASST RX 2.4GHz.
Futaba T6EXP FF-6 TX
IL2845-2100 engine
5.2x5.2 speedcam prop
Archos 605 wifi recorder
Hobbywireless 5.8GHz 200mw TX/RX set (RC305)
Cloverleaf 5.8GHz CP TX antenna + Cloverleaf 5.8GHz CP RX antenna.
Fatshark FPV goggles

  • Do you have some pictures of your plane setup? Forums?

  • @martinba77 haha, yes it took some time. Yesterday I had nothing better to do so I decided to reupload my video :-)

  • @martinba77 I don't have pictures of my plane but in the description I mentioned all the parts in my Easystar. I have the GPS somewhere between the engine and the camerapod. The video TX + cloverleaf is on the tail of the plane. The radio TX is in the belly and my lipo battery is in the nose. My camera and OSD are built in a EZPod. This setup gives me 2km of range as you can see but the picture is not nice after the first 1.5km. I think a helix antenna gives better results at +1.5km.
