why do you make so much sense. Why cant people just see sense and decriminalize it as it is just a plant and if it were to help someone who has a debilitating condition then so be it WHEN WILL THIS COUNTRY SEE SENSE !!!!!!!

.. talk of legalisation.
Because in many communities, at present, cannabis (among other drugs) ruins lives. And a further increase in the availability of the drug in such communities would only be a bad thing.
-
... are much more detrimental effects that are associated with its use.
The question marks over the links the schizophrenia and psychosis, not least that the most common way of ingesting the drug is via smoking - in itself seriously detrimental to physical health.
Everyone has a right to chose what to put in their bodies, and I too think that should extend to cannabis. But there should be education, and further studies into the genuine harm cannabis can have before there is any..

...having a detrimental effect on my mood and well being when I was sober.
There have also been concrete links to cannabis use and depression in numerous studies.
If you suffer from depression, you should steer well clear from cannabis, likewise with alcohol. It's a no-brainer.
As for a more liberal drugs policy reducing harm, I'd agree to some extent, but that'd simply likely lead to wider use of cannabis, and it's all well and good promoting the benfits of using cannabis, but there...

Anyone who uses cannabis to treat depression is quite simply an idiot.
Smoking cannabis can open the Pandora's box in terms of mental health in some individuals, and if you're vulnerable and suffering from depression it'll likely make you worse or increase your likelihood of developing a dependency for the drug.
I know as that's exactly what it did for myself. It wasn't until I remained completely sober from cannabis that I realised that smoking it, even in moderation, was...
... that it's rosy for everyone, or that under the right circumstances, legalisation for example, it would be rosy for everyone.
It simply wouldn't.
There will be individuals who will remain particularly susceptible to the harm cannabis can do, and there will remain examples of lives ruined, entirely pissed down the gutter due to cannabis.
I have no real solution to the issue we face with cannabis, but nonetheless, I do hope you receive the treatment you're after.
Cheers, and good luck.

@000121m Alot of people around the world use cannabis for an antidepressant and get put in prison for it some of the time. On the flip side I used to self harm when I was on pharmaceutical antidepressants. No one put me in prison though. I am sorry for your bad experience but to say that under a more liberal policy with regulation will not reduce any harm is a bit silly. Strains vary massively in the effects they have on people as well as the way people are effected by weed is different.

...education over fear mongering and lies and enprisonment is not a good deterrant as you obviously continued to use it. Where you ever made to feel bad or had to hide your use? They are big factors. The more open people tend to be about their cannabis use and the more educated they are the less problems. Maybe not for everyone, no but I don't think it would be as bad as you suggest.I have seen different models of regulation around the world. Figures show mental health problems decline under reg
